Llanelli legend Phil Bennett has joined the Scarlets in the newly-created role of President of the Scarlets.
Bennett play an active role in expanding the region’s business interests, hosting events, fostering grassroots links, overseeing a new investment programme and being a global ambassador for Scarlets rugby.
“This is one gentleman in rugby that you can truly say has earned his place as a global sporting icon,” said Scarlets chief executive Mark Davies.
“His distinguished service and commitment to Llanelli, the Scarlets, Wales and game of rugby on the world stage speaks for itself and we are delighted that he has agreed to take forward the new role of President of the Scarlets.”
Former fly-half Bennett played for Llanelli 412 times over 14 seasons, captaining the club for six seasons with a tally of 2,532 points and 132 tries.
