Cardiff Blues are considering testing Gavin Henson at centre when they take on PRO12 leaders Leinster on Saturday.
Henson has started at fullback in his first two games for the Blues this season, but could be considered for centre as a replacement for the injured Jamie Roberts.
"We know the calibre of Gavin Henson," Blues coach Justin Burnell said.
"We do appreciate that perhaps his best position is at centre but he's mindful we do have injuries and he is capable of playing in other positions.
"He is doing a fantastic job back there for us. I don't think he has put a foot wrong at full-back and has shown some outstanding glimpses."
Henson is pushing for a place in Wales's Six Nations squad after missing the 2011 Rugby World Cup through injury.
