Sale Sharks come from behind to beat Newcastle Falcons

Sale Sharks score a try late in the second half to secure an 18-13 win over Newcastle Falcons in the Aviva Premiership.

Sale Sharks needed a late try to come from behind for their 18-13 win over Newcastle Falcons in the Aviva Premiership this afternoon.

The home side took an early lead when Juan Pablo Socino broke off a series of tackles before powering over for the opening try of the game.

Dan Braid soon got Sale back in contention after squeezing over in the corner, but Danny Cipriani missed the conversion from out wide to leave the visitors two points adrift.

The visitors took the lead for the first time with just over 10 minutes to play when Cipriani booted the ball downfield, which Johnny Leota gathered to run over.

Fly-half Rory Clegg added Newcastle's only points of the second half with a penalty, but the home side were unable to find their rhythm from the first half in the second 40 minutes.

The win moves Sale up to sixth in the table, while Newcastle remain 10th.
