Dean Richards signs Newcastle Falcons contract extension

Newcastle Falcons director of rugby Dean Richards extends his contract at Kingston Park until 2018.

Newcastle Falcons director of rugby Dean Richards has signed a new three-year deal with the Aviva Premiership club.

The 51-year-old has extended his stay at Kingston Park until summer 2018.

Richards guided the Falcons from the Championship to the top flight of English rugby after taking charge of the side in 2012.

"We are building a strong and sustainable club here at Newcastle," the former England international is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "I'm particularly pleased at how the players, coaching staff and off-field staff have bought into our vision."

Newcastle, who currently sit in 11th place in the Aviva Premiership table, return to action on March 28 when they travel to London Irish.
