Saracens thump Newcastle Falcons

Saracens mark round three of the LV= Cup with an emphatic thumping of Newcastle Falcons at Allianz Park this afternoon.

Saracens have marked round three of the LV= Cup with an emphatic 41-8 thumping of Newcastle Falcons at Allianz Park.

Winger Tom Catterick crossed for the game's first try on 14 minutes to reduce the deficit to three points after Ben Spencer had successfully kicked three penalties.

Sarries extended their lead by again courtesy of another two penalties from the boot of Spencer as the hosts boasted a 15-8 half-time advantage.

Jackson Wray touched down twice early in the second half for the home team, with Spencer converting one of the tries to open up a 19-point deficit in the encounter.

Tim Streather was the architect of Saracens' third of the afternoon, racing through the defence before feeding Ben Ransom, who touched down another converted try for Mark McCall's men.

Tom Jubb marked his 21st birthday in style by going over for his team's fourth of the clash and securing a bonus point in the closing stages as McCall's troops take control of Pool A in the LV= Cup.
