London Wasps 43-14 London Irish

London Wasps have recorded their first win of the season with a 43-14 victory at home to London Irish.

Experienced Welshman Steven Jones gave Wasps an early lead with a penalty before Steven Shingler levelled for Irish at three apiece.

Marlon Yarde then showed great pace, breaking away to put Irish 8-5 up.

Jones and Shingler once again exchanged kicks to send London Irish into half-time with an 11-8 lead.

The reliable Welshman kicked Wasps ahead once again early in the second half.

Wasps increased their lead with a try from Tom Varndell, following neat link play by Hugo Southwell off a Christian Wade break.

Joe Simpson the dived over for Wasps after a strong rolling maul created space for the scrum half.

Jones continued to convert his kicks, landing his seventh out of seven to set up a 29-14 lead for Wasps.

Zak Taulafo and Tom Varndell sealed the win for Wasps late on, setting up a 43-14 bonus point victory.
