Dai Young: 'Wasps lost to the better side'

Wasps director of rugby Dai Young admits that his side were second best during their 30-14 defeat to Premiership title rivals Saracens.

Wasps director of rugby Dai Young has admitted that his side deserved to be beaten by Saracens during their Premiership clash this afternoon.

Wasps's perfect start to the campaign came to an end courtesy of a 30-14 defeat at the hands of the reigning champions in an early-season clash between two expected title rivals.

Young admitted that an away game against Saracens was "too much" for his side, but insists that he is still happy with the start they have made to the season.

"We lost to the better team. We weren't allowed to play. You have to give Saracens a lot of credit, they really strangled us and didn't allow us to play," he told reporters.

"We've made a really good start to the season, but we've come to the home of the double champions and it was a little too much for us. It's not all doom and gloom because it's the first game we've lost, but if you're going to lose to anyone it should be the double winners.

"We're disappointed because we didn't look like we fired enough shots, but that's because of how good Saracens were defensively."

Wasps will look to return to winning ways against Zebre in the European Champions Cup on Saturday.
