Chris Bell named London Wasps captain

Chris Bell has replaced Hugo Southwell as the captain of London Wasps.

The 30-year-old joined the Aviva Premiership club from Sale Sharks in 2010 but has struggled for appearances due to injury.

"It is important to first of all to recognise what a great job Hugo Southwell did last year," coach Dai Young told Wasps' official website.

"Throughout that time, he was well supported by Chris, who is a senior leader in this squad, and I know he will pick up the baton now and be excellent in the role."

Wasps start the new season against Harlequins at Twickenham Stadium on September 7.
