Wood: Northampton "ashamed" by Leinster loss

Northampton flanker Tom Wood has admitted that his team were embarrassed and ashamed by the manner of their defeat at home to Leinster in the Heineken Cup.

The Irish province picked up a bonus-point victory at Franklin's Gardens as the Saints conceded six tries in a 40-7 rout, and Wood was honest in his assessment of the club's performance.

He is quoted by PA as saying: "I'm ashamed and embarrassed and collectively the team are too.

"That's probably the longest 80 minutes I've ever played and I'm ashamed to say it but I couldn't wait for the final whistle."

To have any chance of staying in the tournament, Northampton need to pick up a bonus point win against Leinster at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday.
