Harlequins have confirmed the signing of New Zealand-born forward Mathew Luamanu from Benetton Treviso.

The 27-year-old back-row made 22 appearances for Treviso in the Pro 12 last term.

"We look forward to working with a player whose best years can still be ahead of him," Quins director of rugby Conor O'Shea told the club's official website.

"Mat's sheer size, power and footballing ability will provide a very interesting challenge to teams in the Aviva Premiership and in Europe."

Harlequins start the new Aviva Premiership season at home to Wasps on October 16.
