Late Clermont push downs Quins

Clermont Auvergne needed a late try and penalty to clinch a 16-13 win over Harlequins in the Heineken Cup this afternoon.

Last season's beaten finalists trailed at half time after Matt Hopper scooped up a chip forward from Danny Care to open the scoring for the home side.

Napolioni Nalaga got the French side back into contention at the start of the second half, but Quins defended well to make further opportunities scarce.

However, a late attack from the visitors resulted in an equalising try from Sitiveni Sivivatu out wide before Brock James sealed it with a penalty four minutes from full time.

The result allows Clermont to extend their lead at the top of pool four.
