Gloucester too strong for Leicester Tigers

Gloucester score a string of tries in the first half to set up a 33-16 win over Leicester Tigers in the Aviva Premiership.

A strong first-half performance from Gloucester Rugby has led them to a 33-16 win over Leicester Tigers in the Aviva Premiership this afternoon.

Try-scoring opportunities were limited early on, with both sides having to rely on penalties for points in the opening 20 minutes of the tie.

Nick Wood and Charlie Sharples both scored tries in the space of seven minutes to put Gloucester in a commanding position midway through the first half.

A string of penalties from Owen Williams kept Leicester in touch in the second half, but they were unable to find the try line until the final minute, when David Mele could only add a consolation.

The result leaves Leicester with defeats in their last three outings, while Gloucester have back-to-back wins.
