Humphreys praises Gloucester defence

David Humphreys has said that Gloucester Rugby's defence was the key to their win over Connacht in the European Rugby Challenge Cup.

The Aviva Premiership side scored all of their points in the first half of the 14-7 win to book a spot in the semi-finals of the competition.

The club's director of rugby told BBC Radio Gloucestershire: "The initial reaction is one of relief, we got ourselves in a good position. I thought we played some very good rugby in the first half.

"Coming off a five-day turnaround it was always going to be a challenge but I thought we responded very well to that.

"Second half I suppose more credit to Connacht. They played well, kept the ball and caused us some problems, but ultimately the defence won us the game."

Gloucester will face either Exeter Chiefs or Newcastle Falcons in the last four later this month.
