Rob Baxter: 'Exeter Chiefs have a good foundation'

Exeter Chiefs coach Rob Baxter believes that eight points from the team's first three games of the Aviva Premiership season provide a good foundation.

Rob Baxter has said that Exeter Chiefs have a "good foundation", having taken eight points from their first three games of the new Aviva Premiership season.

The club lost their opener against Northampton Saints, but have bounced back with victories in their last two matches.

The coach told Sky Sports News News: "Eight points from your first three games is a really good foundation to push on from. It is similar to how we have started seasons in the past, so I am comfortable with where we are.

"Now, though, we have to build on that foundation, collect some points, I don't mind how we get them, and just make sure we are comfortable with our level of performance.

"The truth is the best teams are not at their best right now. This is the time when they bed in and get better, so that is what we have to do. Leicester are the reigning champions for a reason, and you have to play well to beat them. We know we have to keep our foot on the gas."

Exeter host Leicester tomorrow.
