Ellis Jenkins try sees Cardiff Blues past Scarlets

Cardif Blues boost their hopes in the LV= Cup after a 19-13 win over the Scarlets.

Cardiff Blues kept their hopes of reaching the knockout stages of the LV= Cup alive with a hard-fought win over the Scarlets.

Josh Lewis's early penalty had given the Scarlets the lead, but Simon Humberstone responded in kind on 10 minutes for the hosts.

Humberstone then kicked six more points to give the Blues a 9-3 lead with half time approaching.

Lewis reduced the deficit with another penalty on 39 minutes and the visitors took the lead at the Arms Park when Sion Bennett scored a try within two minutes of the restart to give the Scarlets a sniff of a first win in this season's competition.

However, with just a quarter of the game left Cardiff were back in front thanks to a try from Ellis Jenkins.

The Scarlets' hopes of a late match-winning score were all but ended when Bennett was yellow-carded for an infringement, and Humberstone's boot ensured the Blues won their second game of the tournament.
