Billy Ocean's son: 'I relished playing against New Zealand'

Barbados rugby sevens player Anthony Bayne-Charles, son of 1980s singer Billy Ocean, admits that he 'relished' the experience of lining up against New Zealand.

Barbados rugby sevens player Anthony Bayne-Charles has spoken fondly of his time at this year's Commonwealth Games, admitting that he 'relished' the experience of lining up against New Zealand.

The son of 1980s singer Billy Ocean came on as a second-half substitute against the All Blacks as his Barbados side, replacements for Nigeria who pulled out, were beaten in their three games, losing 59-0 to New Zealand, 56-0 to Scotland and 68-5 to Canada.

Nevertheless, the 31-year-old spoke positively about his time in Glasgow, telling ESPN: "It pumps you up man. It's a bit like noise in your car. It's bizarre.

"You are scrolling and looking at them on the internet and following them on Twitter feeds. Then all of a sudden you are playing against them. It's an experience man. I relished it."

Bayne-Charles has lived much of his life in England but is eligible to play for Barbados because his mother, Judy, was born there.
