Great Britain's bronze medal-winning men's eight team shared mixed emotions after a gruelling race at Eton Dorney.
A spirited display saw Team GB briefly lead the race at the halfway stage before being pegged back by Germany and Canada to finish in third place.
Greg Searle, who came out of retirement to win a medal 20 years on from gold in Barcelona, said the team gave it their all.
He said: "It's been fantastic, I don't think we could have given any more. Before the race we wanted to be able to look at ourselves in the mirror and know we'd given it everything and I think we did.
"I had an amazing rush of adrenalin when we took the lead but we just had nothing left at the finish."
The bronze medal completed a fantastic day at the rowing for Team GB following a gold medal in the women's pair.
