Liam Ridgewell warns public not to leave cars unattended following theft

West Bromwich Albion defender Liam Ridgewell warns drivers not to leave their cars unattended while defrosting it after his vehicle was stolen in 2011.

West Bromwich Albion defender Liam Ridgewell has warned fellow drivers not to leave their cars unattended while defrosting after his vehicle was stolen two years ago.

In December 2011, Ridgewell's Audi Q7 was pinched after he left it defrosting outside of his home in Sutton Coldfield.

"I was fortunate because the police did a great job and got my car back for me very quickly but I suggest people learn from my error when defrosting their cars this winter because you may not be as lucky as I was," the Birmingham Mail quotes Ridgewell as saying.

A 29-year-old man was arrested and sentenced to 12 weeks in prison for stealing Ridgewell's car.
