Julie Chu to carry flag for USA at closing ceremony

Ice hockey player Julie Chu will carry the flag for the United States at the closing ceremony of the 2014 Winter Olympics.

The 31-year-old played her part in Team USA's silver medal success at the Sochi Games, and it has been announced by the US Olympic Committee that the four-time medallist has been selected for the honour.

"I am completely humbled and kind of in shock," Chu is quoted as saying by Mercury News following the announcement.

Chu has won three silver medals and one bronze in her Olympic career to date.
