Sports stars pay tribute to the victims of the suspected terrorist attack in Nice, which has left at least 84 dead and many more injured.

Sports stars across the globe have paid their respects to victims of the suspected terrorist attack in the French city of Nice on Thursday evening which has left at least 84 people dead.

France is mourning the loss of numerous lives once again after a large truck careered along a packed promenade where large crowds had gathered for the Bastille Day firework display, eight months on from a separate atrocity in Paris which left 130 dead and many more badly wounded.

It was announced on Friday morning that the Tour de France will continue as planned, with current race leader Chris Froome among those to pay tribute to those who had lost their lives.






I landed in Nice last night just before this tragic event happened. It is devastating to think of all the precious lives lost. God rest their souls, sending my prayers and thoughts to the families who lost their loved ones and for those who are fighting for their lives today. #Nice #prayfornice

Organisers of The Open have made black armbands available to all players to wear at Royal Troon in their own mark of respect, meanwhile, and the France Tricolore has been lowered at half mast over the 18th green.
