Solo pleads not guilty to family assault

US women's soccer star Hope Solo has pleaded not guilty to assaulting two family members.

The goalkeeper was arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning, accused of attacking her sister and 17-year-old nephew while intoxicated.

In a brief appearance in a Washington courtroom on Monday, Solo denied fourth-degree domestic violence charges.

She was released on bail, ordered to stay away from her sister and nephew and to avoid alcohol until her next court date on August 11.

Solo is a two-time Olympian and is married to former American football player Jerramy Stevens.
