Sligo Rovers name misspelled on FAI Cup medals

Sligo Rovers have their name misspelled on the ceremonial medals from their FAI Cup victory over Drogheda United.

The FAI Cup organisers made a blunder by spelling the name of the winners Sligo Rovers wrong on the medals.

The club secured a 3-2 victory over Drogheda United in Ireland last weekend, but received the ceremonial medals from the match with 'Silgo Rovers' engraved on it.

Sligo's Alan Keane told TheScore.ie: "We only noticed it on the bus on the way back to Sligo. Our skipper Danny Ventre was having a look and spotted it - 'Silgo.'

"We got a few laughs out of that. As long as the right words, cup winners, are on the back we won't worry too much about what's written on the back."

Drogheda's Philip Hand posted a photo of the medal on Twitter:
