Maria Sharapova announces split from fiancee

Maria Sharapova has revealed that her engagement to professional basketball player Sasha Vujacic is off.

The former Los Angeles Lakers and New Jersey Nets guard proposed to the Russian tennis star in 2010.

"It was obviously a challenging decision, you know, from both of our ends," the 25-year-old told reporters at the US Open in New York.

Sharapova recently unveiled her own range of sweets called 'Sugarpova'.
