Victoria Pendleton thanks 'FHM' voters

Victoria Pendleton says that she is thankful to voters after being named the sexiest girl in sport by FHM magazine.

Victoria Pendleton has thanked voters after she picked up FHM's Sexiest Girl in Sport award.

The Olympic champion cyclist finished 39th in the magazine's annual poll to compile the 100 sexiest women in the world, narrowly beating fellow cyclist Laura Trott, who came in 42nd.

Speaking at the award ceremony, the 32-year-old said: "I think this is the most prestigious award I could have ever won! I'm thankful to everyone who voted.

"I'm totally embarrassed about being on the list, though. Really embarrassed. I don't think I really do sexy very well. It's not something I feel. I'm more of a nerd, I'm a geek.

"It's all someone else's work to be perfectly honest. You get someone to do your make-up, get someone to do your hair."

Pendleton retired after winning a gold and silver medal at the London Olympics last year.
