Manny Pacquiao plays down chances of running for president of the Philippines

Former WBO wleterweight champion Manny Pacquiao reportedly rules out running for president of the Philippines in the future.

Manny Pacquiao has played down suggestions that he will run for the presidency of the Philippines in the future.

On Tuesday, the 36-year-old returned to Manila for the first time since he lost on points to Floyd Mayweather Jr in what was dubbed the biggest fight of the century.

Despite suffering defeat in Las Vegas on May 2, Pacquiao received a hero's welcome when he returned to the Philippines this week with his right arm in a sling after undergoing shoulder surgery.

Attention turned to Pacquiao's political ambitions as he is currently a congressman in the country, but according to the Daily Mail, the boxer told reporters that eventually becoming president is not something that he is considering.

The eight-weight world champion is expected to be out of the ring for around nine months after having surgery.
