Rory McIlroy 'dumped Caroline Wozniacki in three-minute phone call'

Former world number one golfer Rory McIlroy reportedly ended his relationship with tennis star Caroline Wozniacki in a three-minute phone call.

The Northern Irishman released a statement last week confirming that the couple's engagement was off just days after sending out wedding invitations.

The 25-year-old admitted that he wasn't ready for marriage, but later insisted that it was an amicable split with Wozniacki, who began dating the golfer around three years ago.

However, according to The Times, Wozniacki had no indication that there were problems in their relationship until she received a phone call from McIlroy informing her that he couldn't go through with the wedding.

After the split, McIlroy went on to win the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, while Wozniacki lost her opening match at the French Open earlier this week.
