Gary Lineker to wear rainbow laces in support of gay rights on 'Match of the Day'

Gary Lineker requests a pair of rainbow laces to wear on Match of the Day to show his support of gay footballers.

Gary Lineker has requested a pair of rainbow laces to wear on BBC football highlights and analysis show Match of the Day this weekend in support of gay rights.

Charity Stonewall have sent out rainbow laces to all Premier League, Football League and Scottish clubs for footballers to wear on their boots during matches in a bid to stamp out homophobia in football.

When asked by the Gay Football Supporters Network on Twitter if he supported the campaign, Lineker replied with, "totally", before writing: "Send some to BBC Salford. I'll wear on MOTD."

Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton wore a pair of laces during his side's goalless draw with Brighton & Hove Albion last night.
