Los Angeles has been officially selected as the United States' candidate to host the 2024 Summer Olympics.
The US Olympic Committee confirmed on Tuesday that the city would join four from Europe in the bidding process, with the venue for the Games due to be decided in 2017.
Los Angeles will compete with Paris, Rome, Budapest and Hamburg for the honour after the City Council voted unanimously to pursue a bid for the 2024 Games.
Having hosted the Summer Games in 1932 and 1984, success in the campaign for 2024 would see LA become only the second city, after London, to host the Olympics on three occasions.
