Idowu banned from driving

Former triple jump world champion Phillips Idowu has been hit with a two-year driving ban and ordered to complete 50 hours of community service.

The 34-year-old admitted at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court of being over the limit when he was stopped by police on September 20.

After getting pulled over and failing a breathalyzer test, Idowu was taken to the Epping police station and found to be two-and-a-half times over the legal limit.

The athlete has also been fined £145 and £85 in costs.
