Ex-NFL player Aaron Hernandez charged with 'double murder'

Hernandez charged with 'double murder'

Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has been charged with the murder of two men in a drive-by shooting in Boston two years ago.

The 24-year-old is currently awaiting trial following the death of Odin Lloyd last summer, but police have confirmed that the ex-player has been indicted for an additional double murder.

According to the New York Daily News, prosecutors revealed on Thursday that two men were gunned down at a traffic light on July 16, 2012, with Hernandez being accused of using a .38-caliber Smith & Wesson to carry out the shooting.

Reports have claimed that Daniel de Abreu, 29, and Safiro Furtado, 28, were killed in the incident, while a third man survived but suffered wounds while in the car.

Hernandez pleaded not guilty to the murder of Lloyd, who was shot during the off-season last summer.
