Paul Gascoigne's son Regan and his band StateSide are reportedly close to agreeing a deal with Simon Cowell's record label Syco.

The son of England football legend Paul Gascoigne is reportedly planning to launch a pop career with the help of music mogul Simon Cowell.

Eighteen-year-old Regan Gascoigne and his three other StateSide band members are believed to have held a number of talks with Cowell's music label Syco.

According to the Daily Star, the group, who already have a management deal and clothing sponsor, are expected to sign a record deal within the next few weeks.

The news comes after Regan's father was hospitalised for five days last month following a drinking binge at his home in Sandbanks, Poole.
