Tyson Fury and Andy Murray are two of 12 nominated for the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year award for 2015.

Manchester-born boxer Fury is in contention after becoming heavyweight champion of the world following his points victory over Wladimir Klitschko in Dusseldorf at the weekend.

Murray, who has won Wimbledon, the US Open and an Olympic gold medal, was celebrating with the Davis Cup team at the weekend as he guided them to victory in Ghent.

Jessica Ennis-Hill, who won heptathlon gold at the World Championships earlier this year - her first major competition since giving birth to her son in July 2014 - is also on the shortlist.

Cyclist Lizzie Armitstead, England Women footballer Lucy Bronze, double Olympic champion Mo Farah and two-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome are also in contention for the gong.

Three-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, world record-breaking swimmer Adam Peaty, Olympic long-jump champion Greg Rutherford, rugby league legend Kevin Sinfield and gymnastics star Max Whitlock make up the shortlist.

The winner will be announced during the live BBC One show in Belfast on Sunday, December 20.
