Football stars 'at centre of sex scandal blackmail plot involving Max Clifford'

A number of international footballers could reportedly be questioned by police regarding an alleged honeytrap plot set up by disgraced public relations guru Max Clifford.

A model is alleged to have told the authorities that she was encouraged by Clifford to sleep with married high-profile footballers so the PR man could create a 'black book' of sex secrets that he could use against the sportsmen in the future.

According to the Sunday People, the model allegedly had a long-term affair with a Premier League player, and also slept with two Champions League strikers, while a retired England international is also believed to have been targeted.

Clifford is currently serving an eight-year jail term for indecent assaults.
