Luis Figo, Shane Warne to join sports stars in Dubai golf tournament

Luis Figo, Shane Warne, Dwight Yorke and Brian O'Driscoll are among a number of sports stars who are due to play in the Icons Cup in Dubai.

The event, which is the first of its kind, will adopt a Ryder Cup-style format as a US team and Rest of the World team go head to head on April 22.

Fred Couples will captain the US team, while recently-selected Europe Ryder Cup captain Darren Clarke will lead the opposing side at the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club.

Former footballer Gabriel Batistuta will take part, as well as basketball star Ray Allen, boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya and surfing champion Kelly Slater.

Ex-cricketers Brian Lara and Kapil Dev will also play, as will five-time Olympic gold medallist Sir Steve Redgrave.
