Robert De Niro voted football managers on-screen idol

Robert De Niro has been voted as the most popular choice to play a football manager's role in a film based on their lives.

In a poll conducted by Yahoo!'s The Dugout, over 30 UK football managers were asked the question and the Goodfellas actor proved to be the most popular answer with five votes.

Alan Pardew, Martin Jol, Steve Coppell, Kevin Keegan and Glenn Roeder all selected De Niro, while three other manager's each picked Clint Eastwood and George Clooney.

However, many managers made their own unique choice, with Roy Keane selecting Daniel Day-Lewis and Steve Bruce choosing David Bellamy.
