Cracknell saves family from drowning

Olympic rower James Cracknell and his young son Croyde recently saved two people from drowning during a trip to a Devon beach.

The two-time gold medallist was surfing with his 11-year-old boy when they spotted a young child and his grandfather getting caught by the current.

Croyde was able to pull Jim Greatorex, 67, onto a surfboard, while Cracknell carried seven-year-old Emerson Fairclough in his arms back to shore.

Emerson's mother Laura is quoted by The Herald as saying: "James made sure we could both touch the bottom and then went back to get my dad who had been pulled onto a surfboard by his son. It was wonderful what he did for such a young lad and I can never thank them both enough."

Cracknell is also father to two daughters Kiki and Trixie.
