Formula 1 driver Jenson Button splits from wife of one year

Ex-Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button has split from his wife Jessica Michibata after a year of marriage.

The pair, who are believed to have started dating in 2009, tied the knot in Hawaii last December.

However, a spokesman for the 35-year-old driver has now confirmed the separation in a statement.

"Jenson and Jessica have decided to go their separate ways and it is very amicable. There is no-one else involved," it read.

Button is currently part of the McLaren team.
