Paul Scholes joins BT Sport

BT Sport announces that former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes is to join the channel as a pundit.

BT Sport has announced that Paul Scholes has agreed a four-year deal to become a football pundit for the broadcaster.

The former Manchester United midfielder retired from playing for the second time at the end of the 2012-13 season, and was appointed as a coach at the club under interim manager Ryan Giggs earlier this year.

Senior channel executive producer Grant Best said: "Paul has proved himself to be a forthright and astute pundit since he hung up his boots.

"His recent opinions have been every bit as tenacious as his tackling on the pitch. It is fantastic that we have been able to sign up a legend like Paul to offer a unique insight, based on a record of consistent success at the highest level of the game."

Scholes joins former United teammates Owen Hargreaves and Michael Owen at the channel, which made its debut last year.
