Wayne Rooney's camp defends a lack of sales for his latest book My Decade in the Premier League by claiming that they expect more copies to be bought in the run-up to Christmas.

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is expected to sell more copies of his latest book around Christmas time following a slump, according to the player's camp.

The England international's book My Decade in the Premier League is believed to have sold 6,000 copies in the opening six weeks of its release.

"This book was always intended to target the market in the long run-up to Christmas," the Daily Star quotes a spokesman as saying. "We remain confident of sales in the weeks ahead."

Meanwhile, the 26-year-old is preparing to face Braga in the Champions League this week.
