Report: Egypt star Mohamed Salah turns down offer of luxury villa

Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah is believed to have turned down the offer of a luxury villa as reward for helping Egypt reach the 2018 World Cup.

Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has reportedly turned down the offer of a luxury villa as reward for helping Egypt reach the 2018 World Cup.

The 25-year-old scored a brace in the Pharaohs' 2-1 win over Congo earlier this month to fire the North African nation to the finals of the tournament for the first time in almost 30 years.

According to Egyptian sport website yallakora.com, Salah was contacted by former Zamalek president Mamdouh Abbas, who offered the winger the holiday villa as a gift.

However, Salah is believed to have politely declined and instead suggested for Abbas to make a donation to his home village of Nagrig in Gharbiya province, around 150km from the capital Cairo.

The governor of Gharbiya has renamed the player's former school in Basioun 'Mohamed Salah Industrial High School', while Nagrig's youth centre is also being renamed in the former El Mokawloon academy product's honour.
