Steven Gerrard plays golf with One Direction star Niall Horan in LA

Steven Gerrard celebrated scoring his first Los Angeles Galaxy goal by playing a round of golf with One Direction singer Niall Horan.

The former Liverpool captain and the Irish 21-year-old popstar met up at the Hillcrest County Club one day after the midfielder scored on his MLS debut in the Galaxy's 5-2 win over San Jose Earthquakes.

Gerrard, who moved to the American club after calling an end to a 17-year career at Liverpool in May, described his golf outing with Horan as a "great day" on Instagram.

Horan recently visited Gerrard at his new home in LA and was also a guest at Robbie Keane's 35th birthday a fortnight ago.
