Antonio Conte 'to face criminal trail next month over match fixing'

Italy head coach Antonio Conte will stand trial next month over allegations that he failed to report match fixing while he was in charge of Siena.

Italy boss Antonio Conte will stand trial next month over allegations that he failed to report match fixing during his time as Siena coach.

The 46-year-old, who has been widely tipped to become the new Chelsea manager, is charged with sporting fraud for not reporting illegal fixing involved in a Serie B match between Siena and Albinoleffe in 2011.

According to The Mirror, Conte's trial will begin on April 4 and should be finalised by May.

Conte was banned for 10 months, which was later reduced to four months on appeal, in 2012 by the Italian Football Association, while more than 50 players were issued with five-year suspensions.

The Italy boss denies the charge.
