FSU's De'Andre Johnson charged with misdemeanour battery after allegedly striking woman

Florida State Seminoles quarterback De'Andre Johnson has been suspended indefinitely by the team and charged with misdemeanour battery after a video emerged of him allegedly striking a woman.

The incident reportedly occurred in a bar in Tallahassee on June 24 when Johnson approached the bar and appeared to have nudged the woman.

The woman then confronted the 19-year-old and argued with him before hitting him with her left hand.

Johnson appeared to react angrily and allegedly punched the 21-year-old woman with his right hand across her face, which knocked her sideways into the bar, while she is later shown to be bleeding.

The female student sustained a black eye and a cut on her nose in the apparent assault, according to court records.

A warrant was issued for Johnson's arrest and he turned himself in to a police station on June 30 and was released on a $500 (£320) bond last Thursday.
