Gascoigne pleads guilty to harassing ex-girlfriend

England football legend Paul Gascoigne has pleaded guilty to harassing his former girlfriend and assaulting a photographer.

The 48-year-old, who has struggled with alcoholism for the majority of his adult life, admitted to sending "abusive" tweets, text messages and phone calls to his former partner Amanda Thomas.

The abuse is said to have taken place earlier this year between March 9 and March 22, while photographer Andrew Stone is said to have suffered similar harassment from Gascoigne between March 19 and March 22.

The former Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was accused of beating Stone and breaking his pair of glasses, worth £200.

This morning, the retired footballer pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him at Bournemouth Magistrates' Court.

Gascoigne now resides in Poole.
