Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is reportedly among a number of Ukrainian peace negotiators to suffer from suspected poisoning symptoms earlier this month.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich reportedly showed symptoms of suspected poisoning after a meeting in Ukraine earlier this month.

The Russian oligarch is currently sanctioned by the British government due to his links with Russia president Vladimir Putin, a consequence of the military invasion of Ukraine.

Soon after the war commenced, Abramovich's spokesperson revealed that the 55-year-old had attempted to act as a peace negotiator between the two parties.

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Abramovich and two other Ukrainian peace negotiators displayed symptoms of suspected poisoning on March 3.

The trio - one of the other people involved being named as Ukrainian MP Rustem Umerov - are said to have been left with red eyes, painful streaming eyes and peeling skin on their faces and hands.

Furthermore, investigative website Bellingcat says that the symptoms were consistent with poisoning using chemical weapons.

The report added that the trio started to experience symptoms after they had left the meeting for an apartment in Kiev later that night, before they subsided the following morning.
