Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew has apologised for any offence caused from a photo of a naked couple he posted on Twitter.

The 27-year-old shared the photo of the unknown pair online yesterday with the caption "#nofilter" accompanying it.

The Scotland international has since said sorry for his tweet by returning to the social networking website to write: "Just to clear things up that picture I posted last night isn't me and apologies to anybody that took offence #nofilter #banter."

Mulgrew also retweeted one of his followers who claimed that the "pc brigade went off their heads" following his bizarre tweet.
