Leigh Griffiths nominates Pedro Caixinha as Celtic Player of the Year

Griffiths nominates Caixinha for Celtic gong

Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has taken a cheeky swipe at Rangers by naming their former manager Pedro Caixinha as the club's Player of the Year.

Video footage posted on social media has shown the ex-Hibernian player putting the ousted Gers boss forward for the gong at the club's end-of-season awards ceremony.

"My player of the year, this year, is Pedro Caixinha," he joked at the ceremony in Glasgow.

Caixinha was relieved of his duties in October with Rangers having crashed out of Europe to Luxembourgian minnows Progres Niederkorn, fallen at the semi-final stage of the Scottish League Cup at the hands of Motherwell, and failed to mount a title challenge.

Celtic skipper Scott Brown completed a clean sweep at the awards ceremony, being named Player of the Year and also Players' Player of the Year.
