Neil Lennon receives phone call from Elton John after defeating Barca

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has revealed that British singer Elton John sent him a congratulatory message after his Scottish side defeated Barcelona at Celtic Park.

The Scottish Premier League champions made history by securing a 2-1 win over the Spanish Giants in the Champions League encounter on Wednesday.

"I thought my missus was winding me up but it just shows you the interest it has generated among a lot of people," said Lennon.

Singer Rod Stewart was in attendance at the match and was spotted crying when the final whistle blew.
