British and Irish Lions captain Sam Warburton fell asleep with the Tom Richards trophy while on the plane back to the UK from Australia.

The squad were greeted by fans when they touched down at Heathrow Airport this morning following their successful series against Australia, in which they clinched the final Test 41-16 last Saturday.

Before they returned to English shores, Warburton was photographed clutching the trophy in his arms while asleep on the plane, according to the Daily Mail.

The Wales international, who was ruled out of the final Test due to injury, has claimed that the Lions' achievement is yet to sink in.
