A sex scene has reportedly been filmed at Brazil's iconic Maracana stadium as part of a porn movie.

The Rio de Janeiro-based venue is one of the most iconic football grounds in the world, having hosted the final match of the 1950 World Cup with 199,854 people watching from the stands.

More recently, it has been used during the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup, the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics.

At present, however, the Maracana sits in a state of disrepair, having been targeted by thieves and vandals since the end of the summer Games.

According to Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte, a sex tape was filmed at the Maracana on Sunday between 3pm and midnight in the northern sector of the ground.

The report claims that its reporters have seen a video which showed a couple being filmed having sex in one of the seats until they were approached by the person who made the recording.

The Maracana - previously also used by Rio's main clubs Flamengo, Fluminense, Botafogo and Vasco da Gama – has regularly been rented out in recent times for private events and parties.
